Fans of '60 Minutes' will be happy to hear that CBS says, according to mediabistro.com, the primetime powerhouse will begin broadcasting in High-Definition this September.
The high-def debut for '60 Minutes' will come in September when the news magazine begins its 41st season. '60 Minutes' will be the first network primetime news magazine to broadcast in high-def.
Frank Governale, CBS' vice president of news operations, tells TV Newser that the network plans to produce all CBS News programs in high-def by the end of 2009. CBS Evening News, anchored by Katie Couric, is expected to switch to HD broadcasts by the end of this month or early July, Governale said. The executive said the Couric program will include HD field reports from Washington when the switch occurs. In later months, high-def field reports from more cities will be added.
