Survivor, the long-running hit reality series from CBS, will finally air in High-Definition this fall when it starts a new season. Fans of the wildly popular show have been wondering when or if the show would ever be broadcast in HD. CBS made the announcement yesterday at the National Association of Broadcasters convention, according to an article by The Hollywood Reporter.
The program, which features contestants engaging in battles of minds and skills, has been a HD holdout until now. Show producers have contended that producing a high-def program in the jungle would be too costly and risky. However, CBS executives have noted that with the introduction of lower-cost mobile HD cameras, Survivor would likely go HD sometime in the future. Survivor will join American Idol and Dancing With the Stars as top-rated reality shows that are producing in HD.
