DIRECTV and DISH jointly influence FCC
DIRECTV in its letter addressed to Federal Communications Commission(FCC) on February 15 on satellite operators to carry all broadcast HD signals in all markets where they carry any of them from February 2009, stated that carrying out the change and argued that this would still be a burden. DIRECTV and DISH are joining together and stay put in FCC's effort. Rebublican John Salazar had sent a letter to FCC chairman to review the proposal and closely examine the phased-in proposal, this would cause the providers to stop some local programming and also drop some of the International programming.
