DIRECTV Begins Testing Video-On-Demand Services
DIRECTV has started beta version of video on demand (VOD) for select group of customers by testing the technology which will enable viewers to select movies, programming and many other contents. DIRECTV has to compete with the cable companies especially with Comcast, who are in the field for many years. DIRECTV uses broadband connection and digital video recorder (DVR) to send the programming which the subscribers can download more than 2500 titles to choose. DIRECTV is to launch the service by second quarter of the year.
