Leading satellite TV provider in the country DIRECTV started delivering Local HD programming to its customers. Beginning from Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 DIRECTV offer local HD programming to its subscribers in the the Wichita, Kansas designated market area. The following broadcast networks are available in HD: KAKE/ABC, KWCH/CBS and KSAS/FOX. DIRECTV is also confident to increase more stations as they become available. With this, DIRECTV is offering local HD broadcast channels in 76 cities, representing nearly 76 percent of U.S. TV households.
Customers of DIRECTV must have an H20 or H21 HD receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish to receive DIRECTV's local HD programming.
