Upgrading to High Definition is truly a cinch! Just let DIRECTV know that you want to receive channels in stunning, lifelike clarity and they'll add HD Access to your DIRECTV subscription.
Leave all the technical stuff to DIRECTV, whose trained installers will set up an HD Receiver for you in no time at all. You'll either get a DIRECTV HD Receiver model # H20 or H21 or a DIRECTV Plus HD DVR model # HR20 or HR21, depending whether you're adding just HD or HD and DVR service.
On your end, you'll just need to have an HD-ready television set for this all to work. HDTV sets are mainly widescreen (16:9) allowing for greater resolution. The difference is striking when compared to 4:3 standard-definition tvs screens, offering much less resolution.
Remember, though, that it's the network broadcasters themselves who determine whether channels are indeed broadcast in HD. DIRECTV doesn't make these decisions. But they can choose to add HD channels to their line-up once they're available, giving tv viewers with HD Access enhanced picture quality. A large and growing selection of HD makes it more than worth an upgrade!
