Food Network suddenly announced yesterday that they are parting ways with wildly popular chef Robert Irvine who hosts the equally popular cooking show Dinner Impossible. The reason for the seperation according to food network is that chef Irvine took some liberties with his resume. He claimed to have prepared meals for members of the royal family and a number of U.S. president. These claims later proved to be false.
To give him his due I applaud Chef Irvine for coming forward last month and publicly admiting to the falsehoods in his resume. It truly takes a man of character to publicy admit his mistakes. While for some publicy admiting their (certain government officials) wrong doing has no impact on their careers, Chef Irvine paid the price by losing his gig on the foodnetwork.
Now as regards Food Network. Shame on you. It is the responsibility of an employeer to either validate of disprove a potential job candidates credentials. The blame for this fiasco in my opion lies squarely on the shoulders of the Food Network and it's excutives. These same people who are paid a handsome salary to do a job seemed to have failed at doing such a simple task as verifying a resume.
Hopefully the Food Nework will come to their senses and give Chef Irvine his show back. They are after all not only the employer that fired him but also hyped his credentials for their own gain.
