Comcast and SureWest
Comcast and SureWest Broadband are raising their cable TV prices for the Sacramento area in January, an annual event the companies say reflects higher programming costs and new services for their customers.
The rate increases – as much as 10.3 percent for some popular Comcast packages and as much as 15.8 percent for some SureWest options – could alienate customers and possibly catch the attention of regulators in Washington, D.C.
Beginning in January, Comcast's 118-channel Digital Classic package will run $69.60, up $6.50. Its standard cable rate will climb 6.8 percent to $54.65, even though three channels are being moved from the standard tier to a more expensive digital tier.
