We switched from cable (Suddenlink) to DTV because we were tired of the increase in charges. We had everything with the cable, but every time we turned around, the fees were going up. We used to have DTV years ago, but went with VOOM when they had alot more HDTV channels than cable or DTV. But if you remember, VOOM went voom (or boom), so we went to cable. Our cable company went through several names before it settled on Suddenlink. DTV provides a MUCH better picture, we get local channels, more HDTV than cable, and not the surprise month after month on what our bill is going to be. PLUS it's saving us money because it's less than cable. What's the deal with cable? We love DTV

I also switched from cable (Suddenlink) to Satelllite due to not only the price increases but also due to the extrememly long hold times with Suddenlink. I, unfortunatly switched to Dish Network and they want to charge a fee of $29.95 to correct their equipment. I have had no TV for 2 days now and I will now try DTV, I hope I get better service and will not be charged if a problem arrises with the satellite dish (which belongs to the company). Wish me luck!

not like dish. We decided to pay the penalty for breaking the
contract early and go back to DTV. Big mistake for switching to
Dish. DTV will be installed 3/31/08 using the same setup Dish
installed, so there want be extra cables running everywhere. Also
I will have ABC and TV1 plus other channels that Dish didn't

I had Dish network come out to install a dish, they were there less than three minutes and told me there was no way they could install one. So I called DIRECTV. The installer was very helpful and professional and went out of his way to install my dish. I am very happy!

Listen Folks!!!! This is huge!! If your are trying to decide between Dish Network or DirecTV. I hope this helps... No one seems to notice this but it is a huge selling point for DirecTV. Go to your local Dish Network dealer and try this... Change channels and even their best receiver cannot aquire an actual picture for up to 4 seconds!!!!! Dish Network has ALWAYS had this problem!! Trust me it does not sound bad until you are trying to "surf" channels. You end up using the program guide since channel scanning would take all night!! DirecTV receivers, all of them are instantaneous when it comes to getting your picture up on the screen. Dish Network could reduce their programming 50% and I would not subscribe. A certain U.S. airline partners with Dish and I have seen passengers get frustrated with the system and just end up paying for a movie or turn of their inflight TV with frustration. Trust me Dish doesn't get it nor does their salesmen.

Thanks for your note. I thought that all satelite had the waiting period. We currently are Mediacomm in our town and want to change to get the BYU channel. Direct seems to offer much better bundling of stations. We do need to see if they can put the dishes on our property because of our southern trees.

We switched to DirectTV
We switched to DirectTV today and it will be installed on the 29th. I scheduled Sky Angel to be canceled on the 30th. Its not our fault that Sky Angel is discontinuing their programming and I didn't want IPTV. I called Dish Network four times and the tech dept. hung up on me twice and after much talking they wouldn't waive the fee to repoint our dish to receive their programming. So it Dish Network's loss and DirectTV's gain. I hope the installation goes well. I will let you know.

I am so glad Directv has parental controls. My kids know how to use the TV better than my wife. They find cartoons we do not think they should watch -- as well as other programs. I turned on parental controls and now they can only see what I want them to watch. It give me great peace of mind to know that, it really does. Thanks Directv!

It's great to be able to deal with a nationwide company like DIRECTV. We live in a small town and the cable company was very limited in terms of channel packages, pricing and service. The biggest difference of all is with HD. DIRECTV not only has more HD than cable or dish, the DIRECT TV installer made sure my HDTV was setup just right. Big national companies like DIRECTV are successful for a reason, they simply do a better job.

I used to be a Direct TV customer and switched to the Verizon FIOS TV. What a mistake I made!!! Lack of knowledge on behalf of tech support, just upgraded to HD and lost my Multi-Room DVR capability, excessively expensive equipment rentals, etc. I'll be back to Direct TV this coming spring for certain!!
